About the Program
The Farm & Foundations Enrichment Program was created to provide children with a more intentional and supportive summer experience—one that balances academic growth, hands-on learning, and social-emotional development.
In a time when many summer options are large and unstructured, this program is designed to be different. With a focus on small-group learning, children are given the opportunity to build confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and engage in meaningful, real-world experiences.
Each day blends academic enrichment in reading, writing, and math with hands-on activities such as gardening, nature exploration, and project-based learning. This integrated approach allows children to make connections across subjects while staying engaged and curious.
Beyond academics, the program emphasizes the development of social and emotional skills. Through structured routines, collaborative projects, and guided interactions, children learn how to navigate challenges, build relationships, and develop confidence in a supportive environment.
Meet the Program Director
The program is led by a Radford University professor in Teacher Education and a Counselor with extensive experience supporting children’s academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
This unique combination of educational and counseling expertise informs every aspect of the program—from structure and curriculum to the way children are supported throughout the day. The goal is to create an environment where each child feels understood, capable, and successful.
Our Approach
At the heart of the program is a simple belief:
Children learn best when they feel supported, engaged, and connected.
By keeping the program intentionally small and thoughtfully structured, we are able to provide individualized attention while fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Our Goal
Our goal is for each child to leave the program with:
Greater academic confidence
Stronger social and communication skills
A sense of independence and capability
Positive experiences with learning
